CAULIFLOWERS FOR THE FRESH PRODUCE MARKET

Cauliflowers for the fresh produce market

The cauliflowers are cut from the stems by hand, with the leaves left in the field, and put onto the harvesting conveyor.

This job is performed by 8 to 10 employees.

Once they are on the harvest trolley, the cauliflowers are graded according to number of heads and quality.

When the cauliflowers are ready for the market, they are taken to the auction.

HARVESTING CAULIFLOWERS FOR THE PROCESSING INDUSTRY

Harvesting for the processing industry

The cauliflowers are cut by hand, with the leaves left in the field, and placed onto the harvesting conveyor in the designated compartments.

This job is performed by 8 to 10 employees = 16 rows.

The hearts of the cauliflowers are removed using a drill head, while a crusher separates the cauliflower into florets.

Any leaves are removed on the machine, and any florets that are not small enough are cut to size.

The cauliflower florets are then supplied to the frozen vegetable processing plant.
